Dr. Brehm received her BSN education at UCLA, where she also completed a Master of Public Health. With clinical interests in community health and a developing interest in teaching and advanced practice nursing she completed a 2nd masters degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from California State University at Long Beach. Her PhD in Nursing from University of Colorado Health Science Center was awarded in 1997 with emphasis in community health. Dr. Brehm has clinical practice experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner in school settings, occupational health, and community health centers in Los Angeles and Pomona. She currently holds a full-time faculty position as a Professor of Nursing at Azusa Pacific University (APU), a private Christian university located near Los Angeles. She teaches both undergraduate and masters level nursing courses with focus on community health and nurse practitioner education. As an extension of her clinical teaching responsibilities, she founded and directs the APU School of Nursing’s Outreach Health Services for the Homeless of East San Gabriel Valley, now in its 11th year of operation.
