Lori Bajkiewicz

Lori Bajkiewicz AFA has been serving as a healthcare community educator with a focus on children, the poor and marginalized in Latin America since 1991.
She, her husband Chris, and their two daughters moved from Michigan to live and minister in northern Mexico for eight years. They served the poor through community healthcare and development in both urban and rural settings. After relocating to the border community of Chula Vista, CA, they have continued to expand their community development education efforts to under-served regions throughout Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Using her Associate of Fine Arts, children’s ministry experiences and front-line development understanding, Lori has been able to create a variety of practical resources for community healthcare education. These include extensive oral rehydration “Drink of Life” educational materials that are being used in dozens of countries. She has designed a “Children’s Health Fair” that is fully reproducible in-country by nationals, and is focused on teaching elementary school-aged children healthy habits in a fun-filled, interactive atmosphere while introducing them to Biblical truths about health.
Lori has also designed a sewing course in Spanish which she has used in three different communities in Baja Norte, Mexico. Lori’s love of teaching others is clearly evident. Whether instructing children, educating patients, or training ministry workers, her passion for “passing it on” is contagious.
Currently, Lori is teaching week-long Spanish sewing classes every other month in San Vicente, Mexico, as well as assisting mobile medical outreaches and encouraging national churches in Baja Norte. She has served on the Coordinating Committee of the West Coast Healthcare Missions Conference for the last three years.
