Shiva Batchu, RN, MSN/MPH



Shiva Batchu completed her undergraduate education in Nursing from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) and started working as a staff nurse at an acute care hospital. She recently completed her Masters in Nursing and Public Health also from CSULB. She also earned her Clinical Nurse Specialist in Public/Community Health. During her graduate study, she completed her clinical hours at World Impact Los Angeles, Health Ministry.

During her time with World Impact, she served in the Watts Community where she developed her passion to serve the poor addressing their health needs. She completed her graduate directed project, “Implementation and Evaluation of a Faith-Based Health Fair Intervention among a Vulnerable Population in Watts, California.” She also serves as a leader in Rojo Gomez, Mexico with her church, RockHarbor. She is employed as a Hospital Epidemiologist at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach.

Shiva’s public health interests include health disparities and access to community health for vulnerable populations. She presented at various conferences including the annual meeting of American Public Health Association, annual meeting of Association for Professionals in Infection Control, and the Long Beach Research Symposium. She has traveled to Africa, Canada and Mexico to learn about missions work and public health/health care. She was born and raised in India.
